Since I started this question,let me clarify- the Mayans themselves are still around, although in a watered down way- their DNA walks all over even the city of Louisville every day. But did they foresee the demise of their own culture (which science has surmised was due to their destruction of the environment for one thing)? So why is their great "civilzation" no longer around is the actual question.
